Wiget's Wocket

These are photos of our boat WIGET'S WOCKET production hull #5 in the           NJORC Regatta 2003 off Manasquan, NJ.

We race club races at Raritan Yacht Club (Raritan Bay) and the NJORC series - MidAtlantic.

Our "Centerfold" in Sailing Magazine

The boat is fast in light air (all points of sail) and in heavy air down wind.  Upwind in heavy air (20+) and moderate seas (3ft+) is a bit of a challenge.

We have 3 spinnakers (0.4 oz full runner, 0.75 oz runner, and 1.5 oz heavy air/reaching) made by a local sail maker, Eagle Sails Inc., Beachwood, NJ - phone (732) 349-5139, email nacirema@msn.com.  Contact name is Wayne Bush.  These are very good sails with very competitive prices.

Jibs and main are from UK sail makers, City Island, NY - Phone (718) 885-1700, email www.uksailmakers.com.  Contact is Charles Ulmer.  Large jib is 153% lt #1 TD Gold T2LX 1.5 mil technora.  Smaller jib is 140% #1 Plus E1MX 2 mil Kevlar.  Both sails fit our boat except for the position of the spreader patches on the #1 Plus.  Both sails have performed and held up very well.  The LT #1 can be carried up to about 20 knots with a full crew on the rail but it wears out grinders fast.  The #1 Plus is good down to about 12 knots (in flat water) then we are under powered.  The main is Tape Drive Powerhead Mainsail A2M with Kevlar Tapes with one reef and loose footed.  This sail is awesome and incredibly adjustable in all wind conditions.  It fit the boat with no modifications and has held up very well also.  Hope this info is helpful.

Thanks for the BMW info.  As I told you, we repowered with a Yanmar 1GM-10, but I still have the BMW on a test stand in the garage.

Good luck sailing this year.
