Boatyard 2005

Alibi's Refit

Alibi is production hull # 4. I have recently purchased her to race and cruise Lake Superior out of Thunder Bay Yacht Club. She is a work well in progress and I will update you as the project comes along.

First Inspection, I think we have possibilities here!

Mas that's not a fish ...its a mermaid!

Nice Bottom

Glenn's mast lift

Easy does it!

Hitting The Road!

At the Dock Finally

Ready to sail!

Alibi has the bottom all finished with a coat of VC17 ..that was a big job to get her really true and smooth but worth it . We won a couple light air ones last year on Checkmate where everyone else was parked and our boat could just keep moving.

Topsides are cut polished twice around and the last stripe is done, she just needs a good waxing  before its finished. Guess I'm buying the beer for the crew...again.

All 6 winches are serviced ..turning blocks rebedded and serviced  ... I have completed painting the deck with a good antiskid in a two tone color combination like Voodoo .. turned out pretty well.

Down below the whole inside is scrubbed out and then repainted from vee to stern .. the wood work has been cleaned down with bleach to get rid of the little spots of  mold then steel wooled and oiled  ... I have to thank the crew for all their hours  helping out here.

A new CD player and speakers done and a stainless boarding ladder just like Voodoo... rigging on the mast done but the safety gear and stuff to still being assembled ... a water pump impeller checked ... you know the drill ... changed all the old fuel lines and filters ...cleaned out the fuel tank and secured it a bit better .. engine is now running ... controls adjusted and the loose motor mount we discovered is fixed.

UPDATE!!!! Alibi launched April 29th yahoo ... its a relief after all the work to see her in finally!

Thank you to Steve and Melisande for assisting with the mast stepping and rigging out, and Casey for the ride back to the yard!

Sailed 30th of April to Pie Island in 18 to 20 knots wind and 3 to 4 foot waves, boat handled well. Tuned the rig a bit and the sail on May 1st to Welcome Islands and home to the marina was excellent!
